It wasn't the greatest match played by Roma all season, but the Giallorossi did just enough to take the three points from relegation battling Bologna. Ironically enough, two of Roma's less impressive performers, Aleksandar Kolarov and Federico Fazio, scored the goals. However, some other players had more of a positive impact on the match. As part of the annual U.S. Soccer general meeting, federation president Carlos Cordeiro said that the FIFA Confederations Cup won't be played again, and the reverberations could be felt in the biennial CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Confederations Cup has been contested every summer before the World Cup since 2005, collecting the reigning continental champions along with the current World Cup champion and upcoming host nation for an eight-team tournament. But with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar taking place during the winter due to extreme heat, FIFA announced plans last year to do away with the Confed Cup.

"When we played Roma everyone said they were a weak opponent, which did not help us. After three successive draws, including a 1-1 result at home against Real Madrid in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, Barca returned to winning ways on Saturday with a slender 1-0 triumph over Real Valladolid. Lyon's influential playmaker Nabil Fekir will miss the game through suspension and Valverde admits that is a boost to Barca's chances.

No English team has ever won the quadruple—Manchester United came closest in 1999 with their treble—but Manchester City are alive in all four competitions right now. While it would be an incredible feat to win on all fronts, the main aim is surely to rescuer the Premier League title and win the greatest prize in domestic soccer: the Champions League — and City definitely have the mettle to win both. Firstly, consider the Premier League: Liverpool may have a game in hand, but City have an easier fixture run-in during the final 11 games—City have two Big Six opponents left (Utd and Spurs), while Liverpool must play Utd Spurs and Chelsea.
